Moles Worksheet

When I say "moles" I don't mean a creepy lil critter. I say this because that is exactly what I thought when we were introduced to them in class. In fact, a "mole" is not a critter at all. It is a measurement. What does it measure?

6.02x10^23 molecules
22.4 liters
Atomic mass of element

I did a really long worksheet on these. It took years--well it seemed to take years. At first I was really confused. It was math in a form I had never seen before. As I worked my way through this tedious tree of a worksheet, I figured out the way of the mole conversion and got a 44/50 on the paper due to careless mistakes.

Line Spectra Quiz

On my line spectra quiz I got a 5/5. On the prequiz I got something much much worse. I studied outside of class to get this nice grade on my quiz. I learned that red uses the least energy on the hydrogen spectra and purple/violet uses the most. Cool beans, huh?

Periodic Game Project

My group designed a groovy round board with questions about the periodic table. Tyler designed the gameboard using this super sweet technology that he's going to use in his real life profession!

Here is the cool story line that I came up with for our board.

Thorium’s Powers include super strength, super knowledge of the elements and periodic table, and a super love for Earth.
Thorium uses his knowledge of elements to stop the evil Nobles lead by Xenon, the most evil noble of them all!
Xenon has developed a new evil plan that will rid the Earth of Thorium and his sidekicks forever. What xenon does not realize is that this could hurt Earth herself!
Xenon has captured Princess Hydrogen and King and Queen Oxygen. He is trying to force them to stay together in a room with fire EVERYWHERE.
Thorium and friends must stop the building of the massive fire before it is too late!
Move around the game board answering the elemental questions to steal the firewood from Xenon and his minions. The first player to reach Earth in the center of the game board gets an extra 15 fire woods away from Xenon, ending the game. The person with the most fire woods at the end of the game wins, taking credit (candy) for saving the day and royalty.

Abbie designed the game pieces but Mrs. Johnson has those. They were really cute!

Reflection of Best and Worst Grade

My lowest grade was a 10/15 on a Quiz. I did not study for this quiz and that is why I did so poorly. But, I came after the next day before my soccer game and learned the material so that I would be prepared for class the next day. This helped a lot because I was able to learn the things that I otherwise would have been zoned out in. I even was able to help my classmates learn.

My highest grade was a 100. I got lots of these and this is why my grade in chemistry is so high.
The grade that is not necessarily the highest, but the one I am most proud of, is the 94/100 I got on my Hazmat research paper. I worked hard on this and it showed.
